It is legal to cross a bus lane in order to make a turn.

Pavement markings and/or signs will be posted to indicate that the lanes are for bus use only.

When turning right on red, you must yield to all vehicles and pedestrians that are moving on their green traffic lights.

A limit line is a solid white line drawn across a road that indicates where traffic should stop. for example before an intersection, a crosswalk, a railroad crossing.

You can not turn right or left against a red arrow in California.

When turning left from a two way street to a two way street:

If there is one left turning lane, you can complete the turn into the right or left lanes of the cross street. But if there are 2 left turning lanes, you should stay in the same lane when completing the turn.

U may make a U-turn on a divided highway ONLY if there is an opening in the center divider.

schools are not considered part of a business district, but churches and apartment buildings are.

Never make a U-turn in front of a fire station and never use a fire station driveway to make a U-turn.

When parking downhill on a street with a curb you should:

1. Signal to the right

2. Check your mirrors and look to the right

3. Pull over to the right

4. Turn the front wheels all the way to the right

5. Put the car in neutral and let it move slowly until the right front wheel touches the curb

6. Put the car in Park or in gear

7. Set the parking brake

When parking on an uphill street you should:

1. Signal to the right

2. Check your mirrors and look over your right shoulder

3. Pull over to the right

4. Turn the front wheels away from the curb.

5. Put the car in Neutral and let it roll until the right front wheel touches the curb

6. Put the car in Park or in gear.

7. Set the parking brakes.

When parking your car on an uphill street that has no curb, you should turn the front wheels towards the side of the street so that if the parking brakes fail, the car will roll to the side of the street.

When parking your car on a downhill street without a curb, you should turn the front wheels towards the side of the street so that if the parking brakes fail, the car will roll to the side of the street and not the middle.

Parallel parking

You should check your mirrors and look over your shoulder before backing up, not after.

Parallel parking steps:

1. Look for a parking space that is at least 3 feet longer than your car.
2. Turn on your signal light
3. Pull up next to the car you want to park behind and keep a distance of about 2 feet between the two cars
4. Come to a stop when your car’s back wheels are aligned with the back bumper of the car next to you.
5. Before backing up, check your mirrors and look over your shoulder for approaching vehicles.
6. Turn the wheels to the right and slowly back up until you are at a 45 degree angle then stop.
7. Turn your wheels all the way to the left and back up slowly until you are parallel to the curb.
8. Straighten out, you should be 18 inches or less from the curb.

Yellow curb is a loading zone. You can stop your vehicle for loading or unloading freight or passengers. The time limit will be posted on a sign. Drivers of non commercial vehicles are usually required to stay with their vehicles.

You are not allowed to stop, stand or park your vehicle when the curb is painted red. There are red zones where only buses may stop.

A blue painted curb is reserved for parking of disabled persons, disabled veterans and their drivers. Their vehicles should display a placard or a special license plate.
